The Magnum Manufacturing gas powered impact wrench, model LEM 350 and LEM 350-S, are ideal for railroad and mass transit maintenance. Designed for Ease of use, the LEM 350 can be carried and use by a single operator. Weighing Only 43 pounds, it is as mobile as the track crew itself. Powered by gas, the Magnum LEM 350 impact wrench has no hassle with hoses or generators.
The impact wrench is a portable self-contained machine comprising a two-cycle gasoline engine, driving a reduction gearbox which transmits the drive clockwise or counter-clockwise through an impact mechanism to a 1" square outlet drive. These machines are designed for use particularly where main sources of power such as compressed air, hydraulics, and electricity are not available and where mobile power units are inconvenient. It is ideal for use on track that is open to traffic, and they are both designed to be carried and operated by one man. The impact wrench is manufactured with either an OLEO MAC, single cylinder, air cooled, two-cycle engine or a STIHL, single cylinder, two-stroke engine. Both engines are gasoline powered to operate at a maximum speed of 9500 rpm. Both engines are started by a recoil starting handle and stopped by an on/off switch. The engine has a manual choke and the speed is controlled by an accelerator trigger. Both machines have fully rubber mounted handles to avoid vibration being transmitted to the operator. Three clutch pads held in position by springs on a hub are secured to the end of the crankshaft. The clutch pads expand with the speed of the engine within the clutch drum located in the clutch support and the drive is transmitted via the primary gear to the gearbox. The double reduction gears reduce the engine speed to a suitable output speed for turning nuts and drilling via the impact mechanism in clockwise or counter-clockwise motion. The gears and gearshafts are supported by ball bearings in the lightweight cast gearbox casing. Selection of forward or reverse is by a selector knob. The gearbox is oil lubricated and an oil level sight glass is provided. Oil seals retain the lubricating oil in the gearbox. The impact mechanism comprises a spring loaded hammer assembly driven by the splined gearbox drive shaft with the anvil mounted at the other end. The mechanism is housed in a nose casing secured to the gearbox. The hammer and the anvil assembly is supported in the nose casing by a ball bearing at the gearbox end and the bush tightly held in the nose casing at the anvil end. The impact mechanism converts and limits the rotational drive from the gearbox into a series of torque impulses which the operator can feel and hear. The LEM 350 and the lem350/S, their replacement parts, and accessories are available and in-stock at our Pleasant Grove, Utah headquarters |
