not permitted on the panel During finishing.
Installation instructions of precast
crossing panels
The crossing site
should be inspected prior to commencement of the plank installation
to determine if proper drainage and sub-surface support have
been provided. If conditions warrant, the site is to be over-excavated
and crossing drainage system installed using compacted, high
grade granular fill with a sub-ballast, geo-textile fabric and
perforated drainage pipe.
Track grade through the crossing must be uniformed. Adze and
treat ties as necessary in order to provide an absolute level
surface. Tie spacing must be accurate enough to support the crossing
panels on the centerline of the tie.
Precast panels are to be handled and supported only by the
specific lifting devices, and at the designated lifting locations
on the crossing plank. Lifting equipment and connection devices
are to be properly sized to handle the length and the weight
of the concrete panel being installed. Rubber flange filler is
strongly suggested to fill the field and gauge flangeways.
Approach asphalt paving is to be compacted in maximum three
inch lifts and parallel to the crossing the minimize approach
settlements.
